A soap nut is a natural detergent, a 100% ecological alternative to the far more polluting chemical detergents. Soap nuts are the fruits of the Sapindus Mukorossi tree found in India. Once cultivated, the soap nuts are shelled and stored in cotton bags. The actual nut is not used, it is the shell which contains a precious substance called saponine that possesses extraordinary cleaning properties. Each package of soap nuts includes one coton bag and detailed instructions.
